In short

  • Diversey Room Care is a programme of six concentrates in 2 l pouches (R1, R2, R3, R5.1, R9, R10) and three ready-to-use products (R4, R7, R8, R11), with a colour and a number for every task in the room.
  • The room attendant carries 300 ml bottles filled from a wall-mounted Divermite or DQFM dispenser, so the concentrate never reaches the staff’s hands.
  • The sequence is always the same: the room from clean to dirty, the bathroom from the mirror to the toilet bowl, the floor last.
  • One 15 ml dose makes 750 ml of working solution, so chemical consumption per room can be calculated and controlled.

A hotel room is cleaned every day, in 20 to 30 minutes on average, and the guest judges the whole hotel by it. When every room attendant works in her own order with her own products, the result varies from room to room. A cleaning plan solves that: the same sequence, the same product for the same task, the same dose. The Diversey Room Care programme was built for exactly such a plan, so here we break it down step by step, the way we introduce it in hotels across Montenegro.

What the Room Care programme is

Every Room Care product has its own colour and number, so the attendant does not need to read the label: R1 is for the toilet bowl, R2 for surfaces, R3 for glass. Six concentrates come in 2 l vacuum pouches (R10 in a 1.8 l pouch) and are used exclusively through a Divermite or DQFM dispenser. Four products are ready to use and serve for periodic tasks.

Tip from the field

The 300 ml bottles are colour-coded and mechanically coded: the neck of the R1 bottle can only be filled from the R1 cartridge. So order sets of empty bottles for each product separately and mark them with the attendant’s number. Mixing contents or decanting from someone else’s bottle becomes physically impossible.

Preparation before entering the room

The plan starts in the housekeeping store, not in the room. The Divermite mounts on the wall without water or power, while the DQFM connects to the water supply and mixes the ready solution itself. The dose is factory-set at 15 ml and the button can only be pressed once every 8 seconds, so there is no overdosing.

  1. Filling the bottles. R1, R2, R3, R9 and, if needed, R5.1 are filled with water to the mark, then dosed from the dispenser. Write the filling date on the bottle.
  2. Floor bucket. 4 l of water and one dose of R10 via the ladle.
  3. Cloths by colour. Red for the toilet bowl, yellow for the rest of the bathroom, blue for the room. Bathroom cloths never enter the room.
  4. Caddy and trolley. The DI Carry Tray holds five bottles and a toilet brush in its holder; in larger hotels the bottles go on a housekeeping trolley together with linen and paper.

Sequence in the room: from clean to dirty

The room is cleaned before the bathroom, because the bathroom is the dirtiest zone and after it the attendant should not go back to pillows and tables. Inside the room, work from high surfaces to low and from dry to wet.

  1. Airing and stripping the bed. Open the window, remove linen and towels, take out the rubbish. If the room smells of smoke or food, spray R5.1 on curtains and carpet.
  2. Dust and hard surfaces. R3 on a microfibre cloth for mirrors, the glass table and picture frames. R2 for door handles, switches, the remote control, the telephone and chair backs, because every guest touches them. Wooden furniture once a week with R4.
  3. Minibar and kettle. R2 outside, R3 inside. The kettle once a month overnight in R8.
  4. Making the bed and restocking. Clean linen, paper, amenities, tissues.
  5. Floor last. Vacuum the carpet, mop the hard floor with R10, from the farthest corner towards the door.

Sequence in the bathroom: from the mirror to the toilet bowl

The bathroom has its own sequence, and it does not change even when time is short. First what must be streak-free, then what must be disinfected, and the toilet bowl last.

  1. Mirror and shower glass with R3, dry microfibre cloth to polish.
  2. Washbasin, taps, bathtub or shower tray with R9. Spray, leave for a minute, rub, rinse. R9 prevents limescale build-up, which with Montenegro’s hard water is the main bathroom problem. Once a week use R2 instead of R9 so that surfaces are also disinfected.
  3. Tiles and walls around the shower with R2, top to bottom.
  4. Toilet bowl with R1: spray under the rim, leave, brush, flush. Wipe the outside of the bowl, the seat and the cistern with the red cloth and R2.
  5. Bathroom floor with R10, last, from the wall towards the door.
  6. Restocking. Toilet paper with a spare roll, soap, towels.
Never together

R1, R9 and R8 are acidic products. R11 and bleaches are chlorine-based. When mixed, they release toxic gas. In the cleaning plan, R11 for grout is a separate task, once a week or as needed, after the bathroom has been rinsed with clean water, with gloves and goggles. The same applies to R8: the shower head is removed and soaked separately, never while still on the wall next to tiles that have just been sprayed with an acidic product.

Daily, weekly, monthly

Not everything is done every day. The cleaning plan separates tasks by frequency, so a daily room is finished in 20 to 30 minutes and deep cleaning is scheduled around occupancy.

  • Every day: R2 on touch surfaces, R3 on mirrors, R9 in the bathroom, R1 in the toilet bowl, R10 on the floor.
  • Once a week: R2 instead of R9 on the bathtub and washbasin for disinfection, R4 on wooden furniture, R7 on cosmetic and rust marks, R11 on shower grout.
  • Once a month: R8 in the kettle and coffee machine, R5.1 on carpet and curtains in smoking rooms, bottle check and replacement.
  • At check-out: everything as daily plus the mattress, the inside of the wardrobe and minibar, and R2 on the remote and telephone without fail.

How much chemistry one room uses

Because the dose is fixed, consumption can be calculated. One 15 ml dose makes a 750 ml bottle of R1, R3 or R9 working solution, and a 2 l pouch holds about 130 doses. If an attendant uses on average a quarter of a bottle per room, one pouch of R9 covers about 500 rooms. A 100-room hotel at 70 % occupancy replaces an R9 pouch roughly once a week, and an R10 floor pouch even less often, because the 15 ml dose goes into 4 l of water. When consumption departs from that calculation, either dosing is done by eye or steps are being skipped.

Send us the number of rooms, the number of room attendants and where the dispenser would be mounted, and we will propose a Room Care set with a cleaning plan and on-site staff training. We mount the dispenser at delivery.
