The DI Quat Chek Test Kit is a set of strips for determining the concentration of quaternary ammonium compounds (quats) in disinfectant in-use solutions. It shows whether a solution has been made up at the correct strength and whether it is still effective.
It uses indicator paper that reacts instantly: when the strip is dipped into the solution, the paper changes colour, which is then compared with the reference colour chart. The scale is marked at quat concentrations of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 ppm.
Recommended concentrations for quaternary disinfectants (type D10): for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, the quat content should be about 800 ppm and no less than 700 ppm. When the solution is used to disinfect sinks and drains under clean conditions, it should be about 400 ppm.
The kit comes in a practical dispenser that protects the paper and lets you tear off a strip of the required length. It contains a colour chart and a roll of indicator paper for more than 200 tests.
Note: repeat the measurement each time a new solution is made up and periodically during the shift, as the quat concentration falls as the solution becomes soiled.
